Why must we warm our hands at the fires of hope, yet drink so deep from the cup of despair? Well worry no longer — not in Ocho Rios anyway — for Religion is an important part of Jamaican life and, whatever lights your candle, this town has you covered.*
Around 60% of followers are Christian which includes Pentecostals, various Churches of God, Baptists, Roman Catholics, and so on.
Roughly 20% follow other religions and, though this may come as a surprise, Rastafarians represent only a small number — and not all ‘Rastas’ follow the beliefs, some just live for the vibe!
*That said, the nearest Synagogues are at Montego Bay and Kingston, so you might have to set off a little earlier.
